He has been admitted to the Labaid Hospital in Dhaka around 12pm on Thursday after falling ill, said Shamim Ahmed Rony, a film director known to be close to Shakib.

He told bdnews24.com that Khan had been suffering from stomach problems, for which he has to travel to Singapore twice a year for treatment.

"May be it's the same problem. The mental pressure over the last few days may be a reason."

Rony said further details will be available when the doctors finish diagnosis.

Apu, who had been out of the limelight for about a year, gave a live interview on Dhaka-based broadcaster News24 on Monday, where she claimed to have married Khan in 2008 and had a child with him last year.

She said she had reportedly kept the nuptials quiet for the sake of Khan and his career.
Shakib admitted that he married Apu and fathered the son.
Shakib and Apu were cast as a pair for the first time in a 2006 film, Koti Takar Kabin.
The duo then appeared in a number of box office hits. Rumours swirled around their love affair ever since.
