Inflation in March was 5.55 percent, which was 5.47 percent in February, according to data released on Tuesday.
In January, inflation was 5.42 percent.
The inflation on a point-to-point basis slightly decreased from March last year – 5.68 percent.
Planning Minister MA Mannan, while releasing the data in Dhaka, said the rate “can be called stable”.
“Basically, a hike in food prices, especially of vegetables and chicken, pushed inflation slightly up in March,” Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics Director General Krishna Gayen said.
Food inflation was 5.72 percent in March against 5.44 percent in February, according to the BBS.
Non-food inflation dropped last month to 5.29 percent from 5.51 percent in February.
