The convention will take place at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel on Feb 26 and Feb 27.

Bangladesh has a growing economy and there is an acute shortage of experts and engineers in many fields, said Bridge 2 Bangladesh in a statement.

Non-Resident Bangladeshi professionals, including the engineers, do not have any common platform back at home to advance their issues, it said.

“The mobilisation of knowledge and skills of these expatriate professionals can play an effective role in facilitating the economic development of Bangladesh.”

The convention aims to create a professional communication between the NRB engineers and the different engineering and technical fields in the public and private sectors in Bangladesh.

Engineer Ghulam Mohammed Alomgir, a BUET alumnus and chairman of Max Group announced the convention at the AABEA Bi-Annual conference in New York.

Engineer Alomgir’s proposal was well received and the CONE was initiated.

National Professor Dr Jamilur Reza Choudhury is the chief advisor of the convention. SDG Chief Coordinator Abul Kalam Azad will be the special guest and Engineer Ghulam Alomgir will be the keynote speaker.

The first convention will focus on improvements to the national transportation network, city planning and development emphasising on innovative city transportation system, smart city solutions, sustainable environment development and trade and multi-national initiatives among other topics.

Engineers from around the world, including the US, UK, UAE, France, Philippines, Australia, Japan, Qatar, Sweden, and Singapore, will be attending the convention. The resident ambassadors of these countries to Bangladesh will be invited.
