The 7C superstructure was installed on Sunday between Piers 39-40, said bridge project engineers.

The installation began at 6am and the span was placed atop the piers around 9am.

The 3,140-tonne span was transported to the area between Pier 39 and Pier 40 on Saturday.

It was then lifted by a crane and raised onto temporary bearings. It will take a few days for the structure to be permanent.

Previously 300m of the bridge had been made visible with the installation of two spans between Piers 37, 38 and 39. The first span was installed on Sept 30 and the second on Jan 28.

A total of 41 spans are to be placed for the 6.14km-long bridge.
