According to the latest official figures, consumer prices came down to 5.57 percent in July from 5.94 last month. In July 2016, it stood at 5.4 percent.

Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal released the figures by Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics or BBS on Wednesday.

The BBS drew flak in May this year, when it switched to quarterly inflation figures from a monthly basis. It, however, backtracked this month.
