The centre has been upgraded and remodelled on Korea’s $ 4.8 million grants.

The Korean development arm, KOICA, also provided the technology and equipment for the departments like automobile engine mechanics, refrigeration and air conditioning, machine shop practice, consumer electronics, sewing machine operator and IT support technician.

Its experts helped in developing the curriculum.

The Centre’s senior instructors as well as officials have been trained up in Korea to impart ‘effective’ training in the upgraded system.

Korean Ambassador Lee Yun-young, KOICA Vice-President Han Choong-Sik, KOICA Resident Representative Kim Bok-Hee, and Additional Secretary of Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Md Hazrat Ali attended the inauguration.
Ambassador Yun-young said the Centre in Chittagong was “a symbol of long-standing friendship and cooperation between Korea and Bangladesh”.
He hoped that it would be a model for technical training in Bangladesh to produce highly skilled manpower and meet the increasing demand in industries.
