Soumya Sarkar hits record double-ton as Abahani win DPL title

Soumya Sarkar's record-breaking unbeaten 208 has helped Abahani Limited win their Dhaka Premier League or DPL title.

Aided by Sarkar's scintillating innings, Abahani topped Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club’s 317 runs easily and won by nine wickets on Tuesday at the Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan or BKSP.

He became the first Bangladesh batsman to score a double-century in a List A game.  He hits 16 sixes in his 153-ball knock.

Rakibul Hasan’ 190 runs in 138 balls against Mohammedan in 2017 was the previous record.

In the previous game on the same ground, Sarkar struck 106.

Chasing a steep target in the List A game, Sarkar and Jahurul Islam put up 312 for the first wicket, setting the path of victory.
