Bangladesh had moved up to the eighth position for the first time in the ICC Test rankings on May 1 last year.

Bangladesh had scored 75 points, while the Windies had only 67. The Windies gained five more points after fighting to a draw in the Sri Lanka series.

The Tigers had to win or at least draw the series against the West Indies to maintain the rank after their loss to Sri Lanka earlier this year. But their losses in Antigua and Jamaica have caused them to drop in the rankings.

The Windies are now on 77 points while Bangladesh have slipped to 67 after losing eight points.

India have maintained their hold at the top of the rankings and have managed to increase the gap.

Bangladesh are set to face Zimbabwe in October and the West Indies again in November, so there is a possibility the Tigers can reclaim their position by the end of this year.
