Shakib says Tigers can take decisions themselves after Hathurusingha’s departure

With no head coach after Chandika Hathurusingha’s resignation, Bangladesh cricketers can take decisions on their own, which has increased their involvement with the team, Shakib Al Hasan has said.

“Certainly everything has changed a bit. The mindset of our planners has changed after the change of our coach. He must have some new thoughts,” Shakib said, referring to BCB technical affairs Director Khaled Mahmud Sujon and Assistant Coach Richard Halsall.

Sujon and Halsall are looking after the coaching of the Tigers after Hathurusingha’s resignation.

Shakib seemed to be unwilling to speak about the change issue, but the reporters were persistent at the news briefing after Bangladesh defeated Sri Lanka by 163 runs in their biggest win by margin of runs in ODIs on Friday.

“I won’t say we could not play independently beforehand. But we can now take decisions on our own besides playing freely. We thinks it’s an advantage for us to get more involved with the team,” Shakib said in reply.

“Sujon Bhai and Richard are with us now. They know what we need and can act accordingly. We can also put those to use in the field,” he added.
