Team Manager Minhazul Abedin confirmed on Friday that the left-hand opener is returning home on Sunday.

Earlier in the day, Tamim underwent scan at East London for pain in his left thigh.

After getting the results of the test, Minhazul said Tamim would have to be out of the field for a month.

It means he will not be able to play some of the first matches for Comilla Victorians in the upcoming Bangladesh Premier League, which starts on Nov 4.

Tamim sustained the injury during a warm-up before the Test series. He could not play the second Test and first ODI after being injured on the same area again.

He played the second ODI after passing the fitness test. The opener did not join Friday's practice as he felt pain again after the match.

Pacer Mustafizur Rahman, already out with injury, is returning home with ODI skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza on Monday.

South Africa are ahead in the ODI series with two victories after winning the Test series.

The last ODI will be played at East London on Sunday. Bangladesh and South Africa will play two matches in the T20 series.
