The left-handed top-order batsman was left out of the Tigers’ 14-man Test squad, but the decision was reversed on Sunday because Mosaddek was suffering from an eye problem.

The decision to exclude Mominul sparked a barrage of questions from journalists who targeted Chief Selector Minhajul Abedin and Head Coach Chandika Hathurusingha during a media briefing to announce the squad on Saturday.

The move to draft Mominul in the squad was announced by Bangladesh Cricket Board President Nazmul Hassan on Sunday.

Mosaddek has been suffering from a lingering corneal infection, which has also kept him out of the training camp in Chittagong.

Such infections usually take three weeks to heal when treated, but his case is taking longer.

The 21-year-old batted during the team’s simulation training at the Mirpur centre on Thursday, but did not return the next day after feeling pain in his eye while fielding.

The condition is aggravated by the sun's rays, and prolonged exposure may significantly damage Mosaddek's prospect.

He will undergo another check-up at a Dhanmondi clinic on Sunday night.

Mosaddek contributed to the Tigers’ win against Sri Lanka with 75 runs on his debut in their last Test.
