The 30-year-old all-rounder spoke of his dream at an event organised by Bangladeshi expatriates in New York on Friday.

“If my body is willing, I will play for another 10 years,” Shakib said. “I have one dream. I want to present Bangladesh with the World Cup crown before I retire.”

Shakib has also expressed his hope that new generation will take the current state of Bangladesh cricket even higher.

The cricketer regularly visits the US to see his wife and daughter. This time he is there to play a ‘Caribbean Premier League’ match in Florida.

Shakib called his marriage the best and most-timely decision of his life.

“I only became more enthusiastic about cricket after I got married.”

The cricketer also spoke of his experiences interacting with Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, the owner of Shakib’s Indian Premier League club Kolkata Knightriders.

“He is a very humble and friendly person and pays great attention to Bangladesh cricket. Whenever we speak he discusses our team’s performances and talks of the great potential of Bangladesh.”

Shakib said he learned much about how to be a good husband and father from Shah Rukh Khan.
