Bangladesh and England were supposed to play the opening match of ICRC 5-nation T20 Cricket Tournament at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Wednesday, the first ever competition for cricketers with disabilities.

The skipper had been very keen to play at the 'Home of Cricket' in Bangladesh.

"It is very disappointing. We were looking forward to the game. You don't always get the chance to play here (SBNCS).

"But nobody can do much about the weather," Alam said after incessant rain forced the match to be called off at 1pm.

"We are looking forward to the next matches," he added.

Alam and his boys walked around the ground and spoke to the supporters amid the rain. Shahid Mushtaq and Shahid Jewel stands in the stadium were packed with students.

The captain was pleasantly surprised with the big attendance.

"It is proven again that the people of Bangladesh are cricket crazy. We never thought so many would turn up to see us play."

Bangladesh Manager and Head Coach Hasan is quite optimistic about his team.

"We wanted to play but it is disappointing that it was called off because of rain. We are looking at the next matches."

Bangladesh will take on Pakistan in their second match at BKSP's ground No. 4 on Friday.
