Chasing 170, their 154-run stand on Wednesday powered Bangladesh to clinch the ODI series against South Africa with a crushing 9-wicket win in Chittagong.

This was the third century stand of the duo in the 10 times they have opened so far, the highest number of such partnerships in Bangladesh cricket.

Tamim and his junior partner Soumya had first came together at the top against Scotland in the World Cup earlier this year.

Since then, the partnership in 10 innings has yielded 5, 48, 22, 145, 102, 34, 8, 17, 5, and 154.

Only one other Bangladesh pair has more than one century opening stand. Tamim and Anamul Haque Bijoy made two such partnerships in the ODIs in the 19 times they have opened for the Tigers.

Tamim and Soumya also have the second highest number of century partnerships for any wicket for Bangladesh.

Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim have four such stands beside their names in the 55 times they have paired up in different matches.

But Tamim and Soumya have three such partnerships under their belt in only 12 matches, including two for the second wicket.

Tamim and Imrul Kayes, however, do not have any century partnership despite opening 45 times, the highest for Bangladesh.
