"We have three matches left and if we win two, we will be in the quarter-finals. We are preparing accordingly," he said at Saxton Oval in Nelson on Tuesday.

Bangladesh are placed at third position with three points from as many matches so far.

They beat Afghanistan comfortably and shared a point with Australia in a match that could not be played because of rain.

But despite the humiliating loss to Sri Lanka, Bangladesh have kept alive its hopes of moving to the last 8.

On Thursday, they take on Scotland in a match that Shakib feels is vital.

Bangladesh have to win this match to keep their hopes alive.

"We have to win this match to be in the right spirits for the rest of the tournament."

Bangladesh are changing the batting order for the match against Scotland.

"This is something best left for the coach and the captain to decide. I don't think anyone will disagree with what they decide," said Shakib.

He said the pace battery would have to deliver.
"In the matches we have played so far, we have not found much of a spin. Against Scotland, it may not be different."
Shakib said wickets in Australia and New Zealand always favoured fast bowling rather than spin.
"But if we get any help from the wicket, we will make good use of it," he said.
