IUB holds orientation programme for Summer 2019 Semester students

Independent University, Bangladesh or IUB has lwelcomed the newly enrolled undergraduate students of Summer 2019 Semester.

It organised an orientation ceremony on the IUB campus in Bashundhara, Dhaka on Saturday, the university said in a media release on Sunday.

The students got enrolled in five different schools of the university - School of Business, School of Engineering and Computer Science, School of Environmental Science and Management, School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, and School of Life Sciences.

Vice Chancellor Professor M Omar Rahman, Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Milan Pagon, and Registrar Md Anwarul Islam, among others, addressed the event.

Dr Mohd Aminul Karim, Dean, School of Business, Dr Mohammed Anwer, Dean, School of Engineering and Computer Science, Dr Abdul Khaleque, Dean, School of Environmental Science and Management, and Dr Zakir Hossain Razu, Head, Department of Media and Communication, on behalf of the School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, also delivered speech.

The speakers advised all students to work hard, possess a “never-give-up” attitude, be passionate on what they want to pursue and be employable instead of looking for typical jobs.

However, these are only possible through acquiring required knowledge, chasing their dreams and sharing thoughts with faculties and mates, the speakers pointed out.

IIUB is always there to mentor, provide meticulous support and create opportunities to succeed – all the speakers emphasised.

Later, the newly enrolled students were oriented by the registrar, different schools, departments, laboratories, library and other divisions of IUB.

They visited all schools and departments so as to acquiring basic information about the university and its teaching methodologies.

Apart from the students, parents, guardians, members of the faculty and management of IUB were present in the orientation program.

The event was moderated by Lima Choudhury, Deputy Director, Admissions and Financial Aid Office of IUB.
