IUB hosts inter school and college table tennis tournament

A four-day table tennis tournament featuring contestants from 15 schools and colleges organised by the Independent University, Bangladesh, or IUB, came to an end on Monday with a grand finale and prize giving ceremony at the university campus in the capital’s Bashundhara.

Hedayetullah Al Mamoon, the president of Bangladesh Table Tennis Federation attended the ceremony as the chief guest, the university said in a statement.

Rashed Ahmed Chowdhury, a member of IUB's board of trustees, Prof M Omar Rahman, the university's vice-chancellor and Azam Khan, the chief communication officer of tournament sponsor Mutual Trust Bank, graced the event and distributed prizes among the participants.

Ebenezer International School, Dhaka triumphed in the team categories for both boys and girls while DP SSTS won the trophy in the college category.

Erin Reine Buhaiyo of Ebenezer won the girls’ singles category and Mohammad Junaid of Lalbagh Govt Model School and College took the boys’ singles title. Ayesha Ashraf and Hasibur Rahman from DP SSTS won men’s and women’s championship in the college category.

The champion teams received Tk 5,000 while the runner-up teams received Tk 4,000 along with a crest.
