IUB signs MoU on collaboration with Australia’s Macquarie University

The Independent University, Bangladesh or IUB and the Macquarie University of Australia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding or MoU to collaborate with each other in education.

The signing ceremony was held on the IUB campus in Dhaka’s Bashundhara on Sunday to mark the International Education Week 2018, the IUB said in a statement.

IUB Vice Chancellor Prof M Omar Rahman and Macquarie University Pro Vice Chancellor (International) Nicole Brigg signed the MoU.

David Harrison, director of the Macquarie University, and Prof Milan Pagon, IUB pro-vice chancellor, were present at the event.

The two universities will promote mutually beneficial cooperation and enhance relations by facilitating exchange of academic materials and information under the MoU.

They will also conduct joint seminars and other academic meetings, organise guest lectureships, and study tours for students and staff, launch study abroad programmes, and explore articulation arrangements, according to the statement.

Macquarie University is a research-intensive university and home to some of the world's most pre-eminent researchers. Being the one of the leading international universities in the world, Macquarie has a great deal to offer to Bangladeshi institutions and prospective students, the statement said.
