The Dhaka University Model United Nations Association (DUMUNA), which will organise the session, is first of its kind in Bangladesh established in 2011. It works for the intellectual and creative development of Dhaka University students under the concept of United Nations assemblies.

It is also the largest university-affiliated Model UN conference in Bangladesh which is being attended by about 500 national and international delegates, teachers, and guests every year.

The participants debate national and international issues like diplomats do.

It said, this year the theme of its conference is "Sustainable growth through strengthening economic security".

“Our goal is to discuss and debate the pivotal issues of our time for laying down a representation of an ideal world where every individual will get uniform opportunities and rights,” Md Rakib Uz Zaman, Secretary General, said in a message.

“We believe that discrimination is the root of all tensions and hostility in the world. In this conference, we would seek to build concurrence among nations to create a future where inequity and oppression will be unimaginable.”

Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman will inaugurate the session on Oct 21.

There will be 11 committees such as Security Council, UN development programme, UN economic and social council, International Labour Organisation, Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank and a special committee on Bangladesh.

The East Asia Studies Center is the strategic partner while UN Information Center is the knowledge partner of the model session.

UNDP Country Director Sudipto Mukherjee will also attend both the inauguration and the closing ceremonies.
