Proctor AKM Golam Rabbani said the committee made the recommendation at a meeting chaired by Vice-Chancellor Md Akhtaruzzaman on Monday.

He said another committee investigated the assault on Ehsan Rafiq, a second-year student of disaster science and management department, on Feb 7.

The proctor also said the recommendation would now be sent to the syndicate for final approval.

The disciplinary committee recommended that Salimullah Hall BCL Assistant Secretary Omar Faruq be rusticated permanently.

It recommended expulsion of BCL leaders Ruhul Amin Bepari, Fardin Ahmed Mugdho, Md Mehedi Hasan Himel, Samiul Islam Sami, and Ahsan Ullah for two years and Md Ariful Islam for one year.

The BCL had already expelled Faruq, Ruhul, and Mehedi after the incident.

The proctor said the committee also recommended expelling the seven from the hall.

All of them are known to be followers of Salimullah Hall BCL President Tahsan Ahmed Rasel.

According to Rafiq, Faruq borrowed his calculator three months ago.

When he asked the BCL leader to return the device, Faruq and the others beat him up with iron rods.

They also confined him inside a room of the hall after he took first-aid to conceal the incident, Rafiq alleged. He suffered serious injury in his left eye.

A photo of Rafiq with his injured face went viral on the social media.
