The syndicate decided their expulsion at a meeting on Tuesday after finding them involved in cheating or helping admission-seekers cheat in the tests, a member of the syndicate, Prof ASM Maksud Kamal told bdnews24.com.

Former BCL assistant secretary Mohiuddin Rana, Anjum Tonoy and Abdullah Al Tonoy have been expelled for helping the admission-seekers cheat in tests while the 12 others got admitted to the university by cheating in tests.

The 12 others are Nahid Iftekher, Md Azizul Hakim, Md Bayezid, Prasenjit Das, Fardin Ahmed Sabbir, Md Tanvir Ahmed Mollick, Rifat Hossain, Rafsan Karim, Akhinur Rahman Anik, TM Tanvir Hasnain, Munshi Sujaur Rahman and Nazmul Hasan Nayeem.

All of the 12 were admitted to the university in 2016-17 session.

Police arrested Rana and Mamun on Oct 19, a day before the ‘Gha’ unit admission test last year.

Electronic devices used in cheating in exams were also found on them. The devices include a plastic card, which looks like a credit card but can be used as a mobile phone, and a tiny earphone for the candidate to communicate with people outside the exam centres to listen to the answers.

The law enforcers arrested Tonoy and several others following information given by Rana and Mamun.

The university has suspended all of them and the BCL expelled Rana.
