Chittagong, Feb 9 (bdnews24.com) —The fourth Fine Arts Institute of the country has been inaugurated at Chittagong University.
After inaugurating the institute on Wednesday, education minister Nurul Islam Nahid reminded its students about their responsibility to the country and the people.
"Don't think that your only task is to draw pictures. It is wrong to think that politics is useless. There should not be another situation where someone can say drawing pictures is contrary to religious principle," he said.
The institute was set up combining the CU fine arts department and Government Fine Arts College in Chittagong.
The decision to establish the institute was taken at a Syndicate meeting nearly a decade ago.
The institute's activities will be held on the fine arts college campus on Badsha Mia Road in the port city from February 2010.
An exhibition of artworks by renowned artists and the institute's students will be held until Friday, marking its inauguration.
