Biman Bangladesh Airlines to buy three Dash 8 planes from Canada’s Bombardier

Biman Bangladesh Airlines has signed a deal with Canadian Commercial Corporation to buy three Dash 8 Q400 aircraft from Canada’s Bombardier to transport passenger on short routes.

The flag carrier will get the three planes between March and June, 2020, according to the deal signed in Dhaka on Wednesday.

Biman Managing Director AM Mosaddique Ahmed and Canadian Commercial Corporation Acting President Carl Marcotte signed the deal to buy the turboprop airliners with turboprop engine under a government-to-government arrangement.

The price of the 74-seaters has not been disclosed. Biman mentioned $22.422 million as the price for each Dash 8 in the purchase proposal sent to the cabinet last year. 

Biman has 12 planes in its fleet now - six of its own and the others rented, including two Dash 8 planes used for domestic flights.  

Civil Aviation Secretary-in-Charge Mohibul Haque and Biman Chairman  Air Marshal Muhammad Enamul Bari were present at the signing ceremony.
