The fair will have 540 pavilions and stalls in 14 categories in January this year, down from 584 last year.

The Export Promotion Bureau or EPB and the commerce ministry are organising the 23rd edition of the month-long DITF from Jan 1 on the west side of Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar.

The work to set up the boundary wall, gate, pavilions and stalls was under way in full swing on Saturday.

EPB official and a member of the fair organising committee Abdur Rouf told bdnews24.com that they cut the number of stalls and increased resting places, parks and other structures where the visitors can get rest.

There will also be a stage for cultural show besides an aquarium and bird show, he said.

According to the EPB, 43 companies from 17 countries are taking part in the fair along with the Bangladeshi firms.
