The resignations were accepted at the bank’s annual general meeting at Dhaka on Thursday.

The two other directors were Vice Chairman Salim Ahmed and Director Faheemul Huq.

Wahidul Haque did not attend the meeting citing health reasons.

“I have resigned at the end of my term,” Haque told bdnews24.com.

Haque was appointed chairman soon after joining the bank as a director in December 2007. He has held the post since.

AB Bank’s board of directors is holding a meeting following the annual general meeting. The replacements for the departing directors will be chosen at the meeting.

Shares in the banking sector have been fluctuating in the past few days amid changes in the management of Islami Bank, Shahjalal Bank and Exim Bank.

Various companies and groups are buying bank shares to gain a stake in the market.
