Mohammed Abdul Matin appointed new BGCCI Executive Director

Mohammed Abdul Matin has been appointed as the new executive director of the Bangladesh German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BGCCI), the largest bilateral chamber.

The Chamber in a statement introduced Matin as a “veteran development and trade promotion expert” with 42 years of experience working for national and international organisations in Bangladesh.

He started his career as a banker in 1968. Since then he worked for Unicef, Bangladesh Population & Health Consortium, Plan International, ICDDR,B, NMIDP and Danish Advisory Group, among others.

He spent nine years as the Executive Director of Foreign Investor’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) in Bangladesh.

The BGCCI is known as the fastest growing bilateral chamber in Bangladesh. It started officially in June 2003 with only 43 members. Now it represents more than 450 companies from Bangladesh and Germany.

The two-way trade between the countries is more than $5 billion with Bangladesh’s exports making up most of it.
