Wednesday’s meeting in Dhaka will be the first brainstorming under the agreement after the Trump administration assumed office in Washington.

It is the third meet since the signing of the agreement in November 2013.

Acting Commerce Secretary Shubhashish Bose will lead a 21-strong Bangladesh delegation while Assistant US Trade Representative for South and Central Asian Affairs Mark Linscott will lead the 15-member American team.

Ticfa was signed with the aim to establish an annual forum to identify and address obstacles impeding the increase of bilateral trade and investment.

Getting back the preferential GSP facilities has remained a thorny issue in the Bangladesh-US relations since2013 when the Obama administration suspended the privilege, citing factory safety and workers rights concerns.

According to the commerce ministry, there will be a press briefing after the meeting to be held at state guesthouse Padma.
