UltraTech Cement launched in Bangladesh

Dhaka, Apr 21 (bdnews24.com) – Aditya Birla Group, one of the Indian multinationals, has formally launched its cement brand—UltraTech Cement—in Bangladeshi market.
Its international business chief executive officer (CEO) Vivek Agarwal made the announcement at a magnificent ceremony at Radisson Hotel in the city on Thursday.
Addressing the ceremony, Agarwal said the business of cement was very much profitable in the global market and the prospect was very bright in Bangladesh.
"We are hopeful that the presence of UltraTech Cement in the market will be strong due to its brand value and customer orientation," he added.
About the investment of Aditya Birla Group in Bangladesh, UltraTech Cement (Bangladesh operations) country director Dev Banerjee said the Bangladeshi market was keeping pace with the global economy.
"We are very much delighted to see the scope to invest in such a possible economic field. Both Bangladesh and Aditya Birla Group will be benefited through the investment," he stressed.
A plant has already been set up at Muktarpur in Munsiganj for the production of UltraTech Cement and its marketing in Bangladesh. Besides, a 10MW power plant has been installed to ensure uninterrupted power supply.
The press was informed that there would be goods transportation system through river route, apart from the use of roads, for transporting the cement produced to the end-user quickly.
Aditya Birla Group is a corporation worth $30 billion. Almost 60 percent earning of the corporation comes from overseas activities. It has a total of 130,600 employees in 27 countries all over the world.
In a survey conducted in 2009 jointly by Hewitt Associates, RBL Group and Fortune Magazine, Aditya Birla was recognised as one of the first-category six corporations in the Asia-Pacific region.
