It has also asked doctors to carry and show their identity cards to the law enforcers for trouble-free movement in the lockdown.

The DGHS came up with the requests in a statement on Wednesday after the Bangladesh Medical Association and Police Service Association each weighed in on an altercation between a doctor and law enforcers during the ongoing coronavirus-induced lockdown, with each side blaming the other for misconduct.

The directorate said both the police and health workers have been working relentlessly to keep the pandemic under control.

It expects full and sympathetic support of the law enforcers to doctors, nurses and other health workers upon seeing their ID cards during movement amid the lockdown.

The DGHS also said the health workers should carry and show their ID cards to the law enforcers whenever asked to while travelling amid the lockdown situation.
