Body of elderly man found with throat slit in Meherpur

Police have found the body of an elderly man with his throat slit in Meherpur’s Gangni Upazila.

The incident took place in the early hours of Wednesday in the Upazila’s Kalyanpur village, said Gangni Police OC Harendra Nath Sarker.

The 60-year-old Monoruddin was a plough maker by trade.

Locals said that his throat was cut with a sharp object at night while he was asleep.

His family members were not present in the house at the time of his death.

“Nobody in the village has been able to identify the people or the motive behind the killing,” said Tetulbaria Union Parishad Ward 6 Member Intajul Islam.

“We are yet to uncover the reasons behind the murder. Arrangements are being made to send the body to the morgue,” said OC Harendra Nath.
