Senior Judicial Magistrate Sharaf Uddin Ahmed passed the order granting police the remand of Amin on Saturday evening, court police’s Inspector Golam Jilani told bdnews24.com.

Police Bureau of Investigation or PBI produced Amin in the court and sought seven days to grill him, Jilani said.

Amin was detained from his home on Friday. He was later shown arrested in the sensational case.

Amin is also a vice-president of the dissolved governing council of Sonagazi Islamia Fazil (Degree) Madrashah.

Shahadat Hossain Shamim, one of the 18 other suspects arrested in the case, reportedly called Amin on phone after an arson attack on Nusrat on Apr 6.

Before her death on Apr 10, Nusrat said the attacker set her on fire after she refused to withdraw sexual harassment charges against principal Siraj-ud-Daula.

Siraj was known to have links with Ruhul and Maksud Alam, a ward councillor of Sonagazi Municipality and acting general secretary of the ruling party’s Sonagazi unit.

Maksud, one of the eight accused named in Nusrat murder case, has already been remanded in police custody.
