The incident took place around 3:30 am on Friday in the district’s Salna area.

The dead could not be identified immediately but RAB estimates that he was around 35 years of age, said RAB-1 Company Commander Lt Commander Abdullah Al Mamun of Gazipur camp.

Two RAB personnel were also injured in the incident and are currently receiving treatment at a hospital.

RAB recovered a gun and a magazine with bullets from the spot.

A RAB team launched a raid on information of an illegal arms trade in the area, said the RAB official.

“When the arms dealers opened fire, RAB retaliated. At one point, a weapons dealer was shot in the crossfire and died.”
