Metropolitan Magistrate Masud Ur Rahman accepted police’s remand plea on Thursday.

The accused, Bandhon Matabbar, is a fourth-year student of agricultural economics and management faculty at the Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University.

He allegedly raped the medical college student several times on the promise of marrying her, according to a complaint filed with the Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station.

Bandhon is also accused of demanding Tk 50,000 from the girl by threatening her with circulating a video of the alleged rape incident on social media.

He was produced in court on Thursday after a team of police arrested him near his campus on Wednesday night, according to investigation officer SI Sahera Khanam.

After hearing arguments, the court rejected his bail petition and granted police a day to question him.
