The Met office forecasts a heat wave to grip different regions of the country after Friday.

A temperature of 35.7 degrees Celsius, the highest in the country, was recorded in Chuadanga on Tuesday. In many areas of Dhaka, Rajshahi and Khulna, the temperature was above 35 degrees Celsius. Thunderstorms have also swept across Rajshahi, Rangpur and Sylhet.

According to Wednesday’s forecast, temporary gusty or squally wind or thunderstorms may occur in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Chattogram, Khulna and some regions of the Barishal and Sylhet divisions.

Certain parts of the country may also be hit by sporadic hailstorms. The temperature across the country is likely to increase throughout the day before a slight decrease at night.

Heat waves might spread across the country from Apr 18 to Apr 20, said Meteorologist Aftab Uddin. There will be a surge of Nor'westers at the end of April while there is also the worry of a depression forming in the sea, he added.

Nor’westers could occur every afternoon this season, according to the meteorologist.

The warm weather in the months of April and May is conducive to thunderstorms.

In the long-term weather forecast of April, it has been said that one or two depressions might occur in the sea, one of which could take the form of a cyclone.
