BNP leader hacked to death in Bogura

A BNP leader has been hacked to death in Bogura town.

The deceased has been identified as Mahbub Alam Shaheen, 55, the general secretary of BNP Sadar Upazila unit and a resident of Jhopgari area, according to locals. He was involved in transport business.

A gang of 4-5 attacked Shaheen with sharp weapons in the town’s Nishindara’s Housing Estate area when he was returning home around 11pm on Sunday from a body exercises centre, said the locals.

The attackers fled the scene, leaving him critically injured, they said.

Later, Shaheen was taken to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College and Hospital where doctors declared him dead.

Police visited the scene and the hospital.

The reason behind the murder could not be known immediately and the killers were yet to be identified, Additional Superintendent of Police Sanatan Chakraborty told reporters.
