RAB detains over 100 suspects in anti-narcotics raid in Dhaka

The Rapid Action Battallion, or RAB, has detained over 100 suspects in an anti-narcotics drive in the Geneva Camp at Dhaka's Mohammadpur.

RAB seized 15,000 yaba tablets, 14 kilograms of cannabis and 600 bottles of Phensedyl cough during a raid in the early hours of Friday morning, said Captain Ashik Billah of RAB-2.

"There are drug peddlers and users among the detained. They are being interrogated and the perpetrators will face legal action," Captain Ashik told bdnews24.com

POLICE ARRESTS 48 IN ANTI-DRUG DRIVE

Meanwhile, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police, or DMP, have arrested 48 people for selling and consuming drugs from various parts of the capital in a 24-hour anti-drug drive launched on Thursday.

Police recovered 2045 yaba tablets, heroin, cannabis, local alcohol and syringes from the raids, said Md Masudur Rahman, the deputy commissioner of DMP.

Thirty-five cases have been started under the Narcotics Control Act against the perpetrators at various police stations, he added.
