The company has been given seven days to make the payment.
Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice KM Hafizul Alam passed the order along with a rule on Wednesday.
The rule asked why the continuing failure of the authorities to ensure the safety of commuters on the streets should not be declared illegal and why the family of Abrar should not be awarded Tk 50 million in damages.
The eight defendants in the matter, including the home secretary, the road and bridges secretary, the director general of police, the BRTA and Suprobhat Paribahan were given four weeks to respond to the rule.
“The court has issued two interim orders along with the rule. The court has told Suprobhat Paribahan to pay Tk 1 million to the family of Abrar within seven days,” said Ruhul Quddus Kajol, the lawyer for the petitioner.
The Bangladesh Road Transport Authority, or BRTA, the additional director general of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police and the director of the Accident Research Institute of the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology have also been asked to submit a report on the accident within 15 days.
