The blaze broke out in the warehouse in the port city’s AK Khan area around 5:45 am on Tuesday, said Purna Chandra Mutsuddi, the deputy assistant director of the divisional fire service.
Twelve fire service vehicles from the Agrabad, Bandar, Bayezid and Kumira stations were dispatched to the warehouse and brought the flames under control around 8 am.
But a number of products in the warehouse including fridges and air conditioners were burnt down by the blaze.
The warehouse was Singer’s central storage unit in Chattogram, housing products worth at least Tk 50 million, Purno Chandra Mutsuddi told bdnews24.com.
The fire service has formed a three-member probe team to look into the cause of the fire outbreak.
