Bangladesh is celebrating the 99th birth anniversary of the father of the nation on Sunday. The day is also National Children’s Day.

CRI said it hosted a varied assortment of events including a comic contest, participated by around 70 school goers, at the auditorium of Bangbandhu Museum in the capital's Dhanmondi.

Of the participants, six toppers, in two categories, were awarded crests and certificates while actress Joya Ahsan, CRI Executive Director Sabbir Bin Shams, and State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak were present.

Another key attraction was the unveiling of the sixth installment of Mujib, a graphic novel series based on autobiography of Bangabandhu at the venue. Six more episodes are expected to hit the market in future, CRI said.

Earlier in the morning, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her sister Sheikh Rehana, during their stay at the museum, visited the auditorium. They appreciated the efforts put in by CRI to introduce Bangabandhu to younger generations through animation.

“Our target is to introduce the children to the ideology of Bangabahdu in a more communicative way so that they can learn his principles by heart and feel proud to apply those in their lives,” Sabbir said.

The visitors to the Bangabandhu Museum were entertained with the screening of a puppet show unravelling the story behind an eye surgery that young Mujib had undergone and started using glasses.

“Hasina: A Daughter’s Tale”, a historical docudrama on the life of the prime minister, and the daughter of Bangabandhu, was screened twice inside the museum.
