They also joined at a prayer service after placing floral wreaths at the grave.
Afterwards, Hasina paid her respects as the Awami League chief alongside other party leaders.
Sheikh Rehana, the younger daughter of the Father of the Nation, accompanied her sister.
Hasina will join a cultural event at the Bangabandhu Mausoleum Complex in Tungipara to mark the birth anniversary and National Children’s day.
The ruling Awami League and its associate organisations are holding various programmes across the country to mark the occasion.
Bangabandhu was born on this day in Tungipara in Gopalganj in 1920. He led Bangladesh’s struggle for independence and subsequently became the first president of the independent nation.
