The doctors plans a bypass surgery for Quader next week if everything goes well, said Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Director Prof Abu Naser Rizvi, who is accompanying the minister to Singapore.

Quader, 67, is being fed soft food since morning after his transfer from ICU to his cabin, he said.

Quader has been suffering from a combination of heart disease, diabetes and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

He was admitted to BSMMU on Mar 3 with breathing difficulties and was found to have three arterial blocks.

One of the blocks was removed by stenting. He was flown to Singapore in an air ambulance for better treatment after his condition was somewhat stable.

The doctors at Mount Elizabeth Hospital formed a team and started his treatment on the night of his arrival.
