Hasina assigned Local Government Minister Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain to head the expatriates’ welfare and overseas employment ministry and Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque to take charge of the religious affairs ministry.
The prime minister and her colleagues will carry out these additional responsibilities according to the rules of business, according to the Cabinet Division.
On Nov 6, Hasina had asked the four technocrat ministers to resign before the election schedule was announced. The four ministers had submitted their resignation that day.
The prime minister had asked those four ministers on Nov 7 to continue with their offices until their resignations were accepted. They were performing their official duties since then.
Religious Affairs Minister Motiur Rahman, Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Nurul Islam, Science and Technology Minister Yeafesh Osman and Telecoms and ICT Minister Mustafa Jabbar were released from their duties on Dec 9, after the president accepted their resignations.
