The body of Aritry Adhikary was found hanging from the ceiling fan of her room locked from inside on Monday afternoon, her relative Saumitra Sarder told bdnews24.com.

“When Aritree took her parents to the school today, they were insulted in the principal’s room. The authorities also threatened to rusticate her,” Saumitra said.

Aritry entered her room and locked the door on returning home from school, according to Saumitra.

Later, the family broke open the door after she had not answered knocks for a long time, according to him.

Principal Nazneen Ferdous refuted the allegation of insulting the parents of the student.

Aritry was barred from an exam on Sunday after she was found to be cheating by using a mobile phone, according to Nazneen.

“We called her parents only to inform them about the incident. They were not insulted,” she added.

Paltan Police Station OC Mahmudul Haque told bdnews24.com he had heard that the student had taken her own life after hearing that she would be expelled for taking mobile phone to the exam hall.

“But no complaint has been made. We will act if we get one,” he added.
