The six people were arrested separately on Tuesday, Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Deputy Commissioner Mostak Hossain said at a press conference on Wednesday.

Police named the arrestees as Md Mostafa, 35, Dulal Mia, 34, Md Sajal alias Kalu, 22, Jahangir Alam, 45, Nimai Babu, 42, and Sekul Islam, 35.

Pakistan lodged a “strong protest” over the “burglary” at its high commission in Dhaka.

In a statement posted on its website on Tuesday, Pakistan’s foreign office said unknown burglars broke into the consular section of its high commission in Dhaka and stole computers.

“The matter was immediately reported to Bangladesh's police and an FIR was lodged. Bangladesh Foreign office was also informed and strengthened security was requested,” the foreign office said.

Pakistan also summoned Bangladesh High Commissioner Tarik Ahsan in Islamabad on Monday to hand over a protest note, an official familiar with the development told bdnews24.com.
