Nearly 3.1m students are sitting for the exam. The test, which started at 10:30am, will end at 1pm.  The examinations will come to an end on Nov 26.

Primary and Mass Education Minister Mustafizur Rahman is set to visit the exam centres at Dhaka's Viqarunnisa Noon School.

According to a previous decision, no multiple-choice questions or MCQ are on the PSC or Ebtedayee exam papers.

Among the students, 2,777,270 are taking their PSC tests and 317,853 are taking the madrasa exams. This year female PSC examinees outnumber male examinees by 219,786.

The exams are being held at 7,410 centres across the country and 12 examination centres outside Bangladesh.

At least 3,294 students with disabilities are taking part in the exam this year. They will be given an additional 30 minutes to complete the exam.

The PSC examination system was introduced in 2009 for primary students. Ebtedayee exams were introduced the following year.

Initially results came in the form of divisions, but in 2011 the system was changed to grades.

“Special measures have been taken to send the question papers to the remote 204 examination centres. A zero-tolerance policy has been adopted to prevent all irregularities and negligence while performing duties,” the minister said.
