Assistant Commissioner of Detective Branch Fazlur Rahman, also the investigation officer of the case, submitted the chargesheet against them to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court in Dhaka on Thursday.

The court will hear the charges on Dec 18, Sub-Inspector Mahmudur Rahman, told bdnews24.com.

He said that 26 people have been named witnesses in the charge sheet. The list of the suspects includes Syed Ziaul Haq, a sacked army officer. The suspected killers were the members of Ansar Al Islam, a banned militant outfit.

Zia, the military commander of the group, was assigned to execute the killing on Oct 31, 2015.

Moinul Hasan Shamim, who was arrested in connection with the murder, named Zia as one of the key suspects.

Six people have so far been arrested with links to the killing, according to the police.

The arrestees are Mainul Hasan Shamim, 24, Md Abdus Sabur, 23, Khairul Islam, 24, Sheikh Abdullah, 27, Abu Siddiq Sohel, 34, and Mozammel Hossain, 25.

Dipan, 43, was killed in his third-floor office at the Aziz Super Market in Dhaka, months after Islamist militants murdered atheist blogger Avijit Roy in February 2015, the first death in the wave of violence against secular writers in Bangladesh.
