Khurshid Alam Khan later told reporters, "As per this order, there are no legal barriers to proceeding with the trial.”

Deputy Attorney General Amin Uddin Manik said the court dismissed the petition filed by Mirza Abbas on Oct 22. Later, the order was ‘recalled' at the request of his lawyer.

On Thursday, Mirza Abbas's lawyer, AJ Mohammad Ali, attended the hearing over the petition. The court ordered the petition to be dismissed on Sunday.

ACC Deputy Director Md Shafiul Alam filed the case against Mirza Abbas on Aug 16, 2007 with the Ramna Police Station for the possession of assets worth Tk 50 million outside his declared income and hiding information about a further Tk 3.3 million in assets.

At present, the case is being tried at the Dhaka Special Judge’s Court-6.
