Hasina hoisted a flag in a formal ceremony at the BGB Headquarters in Dhaka’s Pilkhana on Thursday.

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan and Public Security Division Secretary Mostafa Kamal Uddin hoisted the flags for the BGB battalions in Gazipur and Narayanganj from the same ceremony.

The BGB members offered a guard of honour to Hasina as she reached the venue.

Maj Gen Shafeenul Islam, director general of BGB, assisted Hasina in hoisting the flag.

The Ramu region of BGB has been established to prevent the smuggling, especially of Yaba pills, and terror activities and to increase vigilance on the Bangladesh-Myanmar border, said the BGB.

The paramilitary force also said it created the Ramu region on an ad-hoc basis with the existing manpower and vehicles.
