Fire burns clothing stores in Mirpur

Stores belonging to three retailers have burned in a fire in Dhaka’s Mirpur.

The fire broke out around 9:30am on Monday in the Mirpur-10 area opposite the National Swimming Complex, said Fire Service Control Room official Ershad Hossain.

Five fire service units were dispatched to the area and brought the blaze under control, he said.

Fire Service Senior Station Officer Anwar Hossain, who is at the scene, said the fire likely started at the Tex Point brand store and then spread to the Colors and Chandrabindu show rooms next door.

A stationery shop and two tea stalls were also damaged, he said.

The cause of the fire and the cost of the damage have yet to be determined.
