The detainee, 35-year-old Jarjis, is a resident of Panchabati Kharbona area in the district’s Boalia Police Station.
Another suspect in the police attack case named Alamgir Hossain had been killed in a ‘shootout’ with the detective branch of police on Oct 7.
Jarjis was arrested in Chor Shyampur Balughat area around 3am on Tuesday and admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, said Senior Assistant Commissioner Iftekhayer Alam, spokesperson of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police.
A group of drug peddlers and Jarjis were accused of attacking police during an anti-drug raid in Katakhali neighbourhood on Oct 2, according to the police.
Jarjis and some other drug dealers had attacked police after a DB team detained Akkas Ali for possessing illegal drugs.
“A team of DB police conducted an operation in Chor Shyampur area after receiving information about a gunfight between two drug gangs,” said Alam.
“Jarjis was found wounded on the spot and taken to hospital after arrest.”
Another drug suspect named Ariful has been arrested on drug-related charges.
A total of 104 bottles of Phensedyl, machete and some weapons were recovered from the scene.
Jarjis was at large and named in several cases, including attacks on police.
